Born in Italy, Mr. Failla moved to Fort Wadsworth in 1949 before settling in Grasmere in 1962.
Mr. Failla worked for thirty-five years as a ladies' garment presser for various dress manufacturers in Staten Island and other parts of the city. He retired in 1984.
Previously, Mr. Failla served as a customs-house officer for the Italian military.
He enjoyed taping classic movies.
Surviving are his wife, the former Marion Sottile; two sons, Thomas and Joseph Failla; a daughter, Adele Letizio; a brother, Enzo Failla; a sister, Marina Moncado; and five grandchildren.
The funeral will be held tomorrow from the A. Azzara Funeral Home, South Beach, with a 9:30 a.m. Mass in Holy Rosary R.C. Church, also South Beach.
Burial will in be in Moravian Cemetery, New Dorp.
