Ivar Hoiland passed away Wednesday afternoon at 3 at Big Timber Hospital where he had been cared for the past week. Death was due to cancer of the lungs. Funeral services will be held from the Lutheran church Saturday afternoon at 2:30.
Mr. Hoiland was born near Egersund, Norway, Jan 3, 1886. He came to the United States and Montana in April, 1909, taking a homestead on the Boulder. August 8, 1921, he married Anna Rapstad, a daughter of the late J.L. Rapstad.
His widow, and eight children all at home survived. They are Joseph, Ardelle, Inez, Kathryn, Arthur, Margaret, Jean and Arlene. Three brothers, Herman, Andrew and Elling of Big Timber, and Emanuel of Mcleod, a sister in Norway are left.
