Mr. Hoiland was born near Egersund, Norway, Jan 3, 1886. He came to the United States and Montana in April, 1909, taking a homestead on the Boulder. August 8, 1921, he married Anna Rapstad, a daughter of the late J.L. Rapstad.
His widow, and eight children all at home survived. They are Joseph, Ardelle, Inez, Kathryn, Arthur, Margaret, Jean and Arlene. Three brothers, Herman, Andrew and Elling of Big Timber, and Emanuel of Mcleod, a sister in Norway are left.
