Funeral services for Andrew Hoiland, Plains, Montana, were held September 11 at the First Lutheran Church of Plains. The Rev. Michael S. Borge officiated. Music was by Mr. and Mrs. Austin Urion. Pall bearers were Arthur Hoiland, John Hoiland, Berent Allestad, Ludvig Mydland, Arnold Stene, Daniel Omdal. Military rites by the VFW Post of Plains. Burial was at Plains Cemetery.


Andrew Hoiland was born April 1, 1889, a son of Mr. and Mrs, Johannes Hoiland near Egersund, Norway. He came to the United States in 1909, homesteaded on the West Boulder. He served in the army during World War I and Is a member of the American Legion Post No. 19 at Big Timber. He returned to Norway where he married Anna Stene May 7, 1928. They came back to the United States and ranched in the Big Timber area until 1951 when they moved to Plains where they operated a grocery store for a number of years. His wife died In 1968.


Survivors are two brothers, Herman Hoiland and Emanuel Hoiland, McLeod; several nieces and nephews here and in Norway.


Relatives attending the funeral in Plains were Mrs. Archie Ellison, Mrs. Kermit Luttschwager, Mr. and Mrs. H. H. Cook, Mrs. Gudrun Hoiland, Herman Hoiland, Emanuel Holland and John Hoiland of McLeod.
