Iva C. McCrory Obituary

Iva (Ivy) C. McCrory was the oldest child of Mr. and Mrs. AN McCrory. He was born on a farm south of Elmwood, Nebraska January 11, 1880 and died at Lincoln Rest Home (Madonna) at the age of 86 years. In his early youth his parents moved to the farm southeast of Murdock where he grew up, and attended the Baptist Church at Wabash and country school. He was also a student at Peru State Teachers College. In 1934 he and his family transferred their membership to Cannaham EUB Congregation, later to the Murdock EUB which he was a member at the time of his death. He was also a longtime member and Past Master of Canopy Lodge AF and AM #209 in Elmwood, Nebraska. He served as a member of the Murdock Board of Education for more than 15 years.

He was married February 6, 1902 to Maude E. Whittaker of Syracuse, Nebraska. They had two sons and six daughters, seven of whom survive. Following his marriage he lived on the farm for over 30 years. He then moved to Murdock where he operated the local service station until his retirement in 1958. He continued to live in Murdock.

Wife Maude McCrory died in 1964. Surviving are his sons Maurice of Creston Nebraska and Edward of Murdock; daughters Mrs. Edna Thimgan of Lincoln; Mrs Bernice Jones and Mrs. Della Earl, both of Ashland; Sarah of Lincoln; and Mrs. Dorothy Yardley of Stapleton, Nebraska; Two brothers Marion of Elmwood and William (Bill) of Mound City, Missouri; four sisters, Mrs. Frank (Lela) Buell and Mrs. Ralph (Jesse) Dorr, both of Elmwood, Nebraska; Mrs. Oscar (Myrtle) Allen of McCook, Nebraska; and Mrs Verner (Verna) Perry of Big Springs, Nebraska. 18 grandchildren and 9 great-grandchildren, nephew and nieces, other relatives and friends.

Services were at the Ebenezer EUB Church at Murdock with Pastor O. W. Matzke officiating. Burial was in Wabash Cemetery February 23, 1966.
