SILAS J. ROMANS, 83, PASSES AWAY
Funeral Services Will Be Conducted Wednesday
Silas J. Romans, aged 83, well-known resident of Sheffield, route one, for more than a quarter-century, passed away this morning at 1:05 o'clock at the home, after an illness of nine months.
Deceased was a native of Jackson county, coming here 30 years ago to make his home. He had engaged in farming all his life, and had many friends here.
Surviving are his wife, Mrs. Martha Ann Romans; four sons, W. A. and S. J. Romans of Sheffield, route one; James Romans, Dallas and Dewey Romans, Barton; three daughters, Mrs. Mary Chaney, Leighton, route two, Mrs. Sarah Anderson, Fairfield, Calif., and Mrs. Maggie Hughes, Decatur; a half-sister, Mrs. Maggie McClain, of Tennessee; 57 grandchildren; and 32 great-grandchildren.
Funeral services will be held on Wednesday afternoon at 1 o'clock at the Barton cemetery, with Cletus Borden officiating. Burial will follow there, Brown-Service directing.
Pallbearers will be grandsons, Calvin, John, Jim, George and Ben Romans, Henry Chaney.
