Silas Jirdy Romans, 83, Rt. 1, Carbon Hill, died at Colonial Manor Wednesday morning after a lengthy illness.

He was a native of Jackson County in Alabama but had moved to Colbert County at an early age. He had been living in Walker County for the last six years. He was a retired farmer, a Mason, and a member of the Church of Christ.

Services will be Friday at 2 p.m. at Kilgore Funeral Home in Jasper, Ala., with Gus Nichols officiating. Burial will follow in Old Bethel Cemetery at Nauvoo, Ala.

The body will remain at Kilgore Funeral Home until time for services.

Survivors include his wife, Lou Etta Romans, Carbon Hill; three daughters, Mrs. Letha Peden, Sheffield, Mrs. Louise Jordan and Mrs. Jane Jordan, both of Carbon Hill; three sons, C. C. Romans, Archie O. Romans, J.R. Romans, all of Sheffield; two sisters, Mrs. Maggie Hughes, Decatur, Mrs. Sarah Anderson, Fresno, Calif.; one brother, Dewey Romans, Barton, Ala.; 19 grandchildren and 18 great-grandchildren.
