Alma Louise Beck Buttersworth Sikes, 73, died Sunday, April 4, 2004, at Dwight D. Eisenhower Medical Center in Fort Gordon. The Bulloch County native had lived in Savannah 38 years, living in Vidalia for 7 years before moving to Collins in 1991. She was employed with Savannah Christian Prep School for five years. She was a longtime member of Chevis Oaks Baptist Church in Savannah where she was a choir member and youth choir director.
She was preceded in death by her first husband, John A. Buttersworth, Sr.
She is survived by her husband, the Rev. James W. Sikes of Collins; three sons and two daughters-in-law: John Buttersworth, Jr., of Pooler; Bill and Donna Buttersworth of Midway; and Joe and Linda Buttersworth of Thunderbolt; three daughters and sons-in-law: Arlene and Kevin Carter of Rincon; Judy and Bob Smith of Sylvania; and Debbie and Jeff Lindblad of Garden City; one stepson and wife, Kenny and Kathy Sikes of Bloomingdale; eight grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.
Funeral services were held at 11 a.m. Wednesday, April 7, in the chapel of Bradley B. Anderson Funeral Home in Reidsville. Interment was in Northside Cemetery in Pembroke.
Pallbearers were Hickman Bamburg, Alfred Banks, Tommy Brown, Jesse Collins, Donald Crawford, Frank Morgan, Clifton Taylor, and John Tomberlin.
Bradley B. Anderson Funeral Home of Reidsville, Georgia, was in charge of the arrangements.

Visitation will be Tuesday from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. at Thomas C. Strickland and Sons Funeral Home West Chatham Chapel. Funeral Service will be held 11:00 a.m. Wednesday in the Chapel of Bradley B.
