Athlene was born in Monroe Co., on Friday 13, 1913, a daughter of the late Florene (Dodson) and Logan Porter Hagan.
Athlene was the widow of John O. Cecil.
Athlene was a retired School Teacher, having taught elementary grades for 32 years, teaching in Monroe County, Temple HIll, Austin Tracy, Hart County, Cave City, Franklin County, and Stamping Ground, with many of these in one-room schools. She was also a member of Simpson United Memorial Methodist Church.
Athlene is survived by
a daughter, Cheryl Cecil, of Bronson, Ky;
a son John H. (Sandra) Cecil, of Defuniak Springs, FL. Two grandchildren Belinda (Bill) McMillian and Melissa Cecil, and Two Great grandchildren Logan and Tyler Fails.
Athlene was preceded in death by two sisters Paula Hagan Carter and Jacquene Hagan Stone.
Graveside services will be at the Yokley Cemetery at 11:00AM on Tuesday, April 5th, with Don Hiten officiating.
