Hampton, Anna (Annie) age 93 of Lexington, formerly of Knott County, passed away Saturday, September 6, 2008, at home. She as born December 26, 1914, at Puncheon, Ky., the daughter of the late Jethro and Rosa Ellen Meade Hall. She was the wife of the late Floyd Hampton. She was a mother, homemaker, retired post mistress and member of the Rebecca Old Regular Baptist Church at Kite. She is survived by 5 sons: L.J. (Nancy) Hampton of Homer Glen, Ill., Danis (Nadine) Hampton of Lexington, Ky.; Norman (Betty) Hampton of Chicago, Ill., Ben Hampton of Prestonsburg, KY.; Darrell (Diane) Hampton of Whitesburg, Ky.; 2 daughters: Joyce (Dale) Brock and Bonita Hampton (Charles Hamilton) of Lexington, Ky.; daughter-in-law: Shirley Hampton of Marysville, Tenn.; 1 sister: Goshen Hall of Kite, Ky.; 26 grandchildren, numerous great grandchildren and 7 great great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, 1 son Claude Hampton and an infant child, 3 brothers: Dewey Hall, Cornellius Hall and Claude Hall, 4 sisters: Luly Johnson, Marie Martin, Mary Elizabeth Hall and Delpha Hall. Funeral services were held Wednesday, September 10, 2008, at 11 a.m at the Nelson Frazier Funeral Home in Martin, with Chuck Hall, Rogers Hicks and Effort Thornsberry officiating. Burial followed at the Green Acres Cemetery at Ermine, Ky., under the direction of the Nelson Frazier Funeral Home of Martin.
