Jas. D. Wolfe Dies in Ottawa
Former Eagle Resident Passes Away At Age Of eighty-three Years.
Ottawa, Ill. - James D. Wolfe, aged 83 years, prominent retired farmer, passed away at 9 o'clock this morning at the home of his daughter, Mrs. Luke N. Finnerty, 916 Clinton Street. Mr. Wolfe had been ill practically all of the time since Christmas, although he enjoyed excellent health up to that time. He would have celebrated his 84th birthday on March 1. For more than thirty years, after he retired from his Eagle township farm Mr. Wolfe was a resident of North Ottawa. he was one of the best known men in that section of the city. The decedent was born on a farm in County Kerry, Ireland. He came to the United States with his parents when he was but eight years old and settled on a farm west of Streator. He resided in Eagle township, practically all his life until about thirty years ago, when he retired and came to Ottawa to make his future home. At the time he came here he was one of the biggest land holders in the county. His wife, the late Mrs. Mary Curtin Wolfe, passed away at the home in this city eleven years ago. Last fall Mr. Wolfe went from his north Ottawa home to reside with his daughter, Mrs. Finnerty, on Clinton Street. He remained there during his final illness. Surviving he leaves two daughters, Mrs. L.N. Finnerty of this city and Mrs. Frank J. Corrigan of Aurora and three grandchildren; Marion and Paula Finnerty and Edward Corrigan. The funeral services will be held Wednesday morning at 9 o'clock from St. Columba church. Burial will be made in St. Columba cemetery.

James D. Wolfe, 84, a well known resident of this city, passed away shortly after 9 o'clock this morning at his home, 916 Clinton Street, following a two months' illness. A complication of diseases, together with infirmities of old age, caused his death. Mr. Wolfe was born in County Kerry, Ireland, March 1, 1839 and when but eight years of age came to America, settling in LaSalle county. He formerly resided in Eagle township before coming to Ottawa. He had been a resident of Ottawa for thirty years. Surviving he leaves two daughters, Mrs. Luke Finnerty, of this city, and Mrs. Josephine Corrigan, of Aurora, IL. Religious services will be conducted at 5 o'clock Wednesday morning at St. Columba church. Internment will be made at St. Columba cemetery.
