RIPE OLD AGE
HENRY BERTKA SUCCUMBS
TO PNEUMONIA AT AGE
OF 84 YEARS.
Death Occurred Last Evening
at 524 North Tenth Street.
Henry Bertka died last evening, at 5:30 o'clock, at the family home, 524 North Tenth street, his death being due to pneumonia, with which disease he had been suffering for the past two weeks.
Deceased was born in Hanover, Germany, November 5, 1823, and came to this city fifteen years ago, where he resided continually up to the time of his death. At the ripe old age of 84 years, he was in good health, until stricken with pneumonia two weeks ago.
He is survived by six children, 45 grandchildren and 35 great grandchildren. The children are: Mrs. J. H. Fredericks (Frericks), of Quincy; Mrs. A. Nolte and Mrs. J. Busse of Senelka (Seneca), Kansas, and Mrs. J. Reck, and (Mrs.) A. Avery (Overy), of St. Louis. He also left three stepchildren, as follows: Herman and John Willer and Mrs. Mary Klarner, all of St. Louis.
