Agnes L Felzien, age 91, of Lisle, Illinois and formerly of Hastings and Holstein native, died April 1, 1997 at Edward Hospital in Naperville, Illinois.

Services were April 5, 1997 at St Paul Lutheran Church in Holstein with the Rev Gregory W Brown officiating. Burial was in St Paul Lutheran Cemetery in Holstein. Pallbearers were Dennis Grannan, Kevin Shaw, Norman Hursh, Michael Elliott, Charles Shaw and Harold Favinger.

Mrs Felzien was born on May 28, 1905 to Hans and Minnie (Hansen) Petersen, in Holstein. She graduated from Kearney Normal School and taught in one room school, District #47 in 1923-24. She married Gilbert Felzien, Sr on June 1, 1924 in St Paul Lutheran Church in Holstein. He preceded her in death on March 24, 1965. They farmed near Holstein for 40 years prior to moving to Hastings,. She lived in Hastings for 25 years before moving to Illinois in 1990.

She was a member of the Peace Lutheran Church in Hastings for 25 years. She was a past member of St Paul Lutheran Church in Holstein and Mary Lanning Memorial Hospital Auxiliary in Hastings. She attended Bethany Lutheran Church in Naperville.

She is survived by two daughters, Mrs (Bernard) Donna Grannan of Emporia, Kansas and Mrs (Lester) Cheryl Shaw of Naperville; one sister Lila Christensen of Hastings; one sister-in-law, Edna Petersen of Kenesaw; four grandchildren, Dennis Brannan of New York, New York, Robin (Norman) Hursh of Lenexa, Kansas, Debra Breisch of Naperville and Kevin (Kristin) Shaw of Oswego, Illinois and three great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband Gilbert Sr; son Gilbert, Jr; two granddaughters; one great-grandson; two brothers, Axel Petersen and Harry Petersen; and one sister, Alma Christensen.

Butler-Volland Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.
