Services for Reuben Lemke of Long Beach, Calif who passed away at Memorial Hospital in Long Beach Oct. 29 of congestive heart failure were held at Church of Our Father and burial in Forest Lawn, Cypress, Calif.
Reuben John Lemke, son of Rhinold and Minnie (Straatman) Lemke, was born Oct. 5, 1910 near Garner Iowa. He married Edith Swanson on March 11, 1937 at Klemme, Iowa.
The family moved to California in 1960. Reuben worked for Martin Marietta in Torrance. In 1971 he suffered a heart attack and was forced to retire. He was in fair health and able to work around their home and travel some until March 11 when he contacted pneumonia and had been in failing health ever since. He was hospitalized since Sept 28 where he passed away..
He is survived by his wife, Edith, and five children; Gordon and his wife, Joan, Mrs. Dennis (Beverly) Morrison, Mrs. Merlyn (Audrey) Olson, Mrs Henry (Kathleen) Dodson, and Herschel; ten grandchildred, two sisters, Mrs. Bill (Irene) Yanoske, Mrs Carl W. (Meta) Bohn; and a sister-in-law, Myrtle Lemke.
He was preceded in death by his parents and a brother, Walter Lemke.
