Catherine was born in Oberschleichach, Bavaria. Her parents were Joseph and Anna Marie (Karch) Amendt. She grew up on a farm and had at least one sister, Kunigunda Boehm. She followed her sister to Baltimore, Maryland and married Bernard Weinekötter and had two children, Anna K, and Bernard J. By 1900 they moved to Catonsville.
After her husband died, she married John T. R. O'Conner. They did not have children.
