Born c.1711, Amos Harrison, Esq., who died in the 74th year of his age, had served as a Revolutionary War "minuteman" in Essex County, NJ, when he was in his 60's. He was survived by his wife, the former Hannah Johnson, (c.1717-1794), and their son, Isaac, who was also a veteran of the Revolutionary War. Isaac Harrison, who had married the former Martha Smith, had served as a private in Capt. Thomas Williams' 8th Company of the Essex county Militia, commanded by Col. Philip van Courtland.
