Jerusha Campbell was born in Loughborough Township, Frontenac, Upper Canada, British North America in 1839 to Arthur and Mary (Bicknell) Campbell. Her father was an Irish immigrant, and her mother was a first-generation Canadian. She grew up on her parents' farm (Concession III, Lot 21) which was incorporated into Storrington Township.
On 1 Nov 1858, she married Daniel Orr III at Brock Street Presbyterian Church in Kingston, Frontenac, Canada West, British North America. The couple first lived in Kingston Township (Concession VI, Lot 25), before settling on her father-in-law's property in Storrington Township (Concession I, Lot 24) sometime in the early 1860s.
In 1878 the family owned three plots of land in Storrington totaling 460 acres. Their home was situated 1.8 miles outside Sunbury in Storrington Township on Princess Road near the intersection of McGarvey Road. The backside of the property borders what is today Moreland-Dixon Road.
In 1880 the couple sold their land and immigrated to the United States and Elmwood, Tuscola County, Michigan, with their children. At the same time, they adopted their daughter Jane "Jennie" Orr, whose parents possibly died while accompanying the family to the USA. By 1883 the family was living in Bay City, Bay County, Michigan, and in 1886-1890, they lived at 1018 Harrison Street.
