Barbara A. Obenland, 82, of Watseka, formerly of Iroquois, passed away on Tuesday, March 29, 2011, at Riverside Medical Center in Kankakee, IL.

She was born Tuesday, March 12, 1929, in Iroquois, the daughter of Virgil and Blanche Anderson Baker.

On April 2, 1947, she married Melvin Obenland in Goodland, IN; he passed away November 6, 1994.

Mrs. Obenland worked as a school bus driver for Donovan Unit #3 School District for 45 years; she was a member of Concord Fire Department and EMS. She enjoyed painting, boating, fishing, and especially spending time with her family.

Surviving Mrs. Obenland are one son, Mark Obenland of Iroquois; two daughters and sons-in-law, Debbie and Charles Wessels of Iroquois, and Kathy and Ray Galyen of Iroquois; two sisters and one brother-in-law, Helen Swanson of Iroquois, and Jane and Bill Perkins of Iroquois; one sister-in-law, Bettie Obenland of Sheldon; eight grandchildren, Tim (Nancy) Wessels, Kendra (Harold) Warner, Brandon (Bobbi) Wessels, Tyson Obenland (Faybn), Heather Obenland, Becky (Rob) Snyder, Brett (Kim) Galyen, and Sean (Anissa) Galyen; fourteen great grandchildren, Jacob Wessels, Allison Wessels, Cauy Warner, Nathan Warner, Evan Warner, Xander Obenland, Jackie Obenland, Carson Obenland, Sawyer Snyder, Bryce Galyen, Emalee Galyen, Morgan Galyen, Mitchell Galyen, and Mason Galyen; and many nieces and nephews.

She is also preceded in death by her parents and four brothers-in-law.

Visitation for Mrs. Obenland will be held on Friday, April 1, 2011, at Baier Funeral Home in Watseka, from 4-7 pm and also one hour prior to the funeral service on Saturday.

Funeral services for Mrs. Obenland will be held on Saturday, April 2, 2011, at the funeral home at 11 am with Pastor Van Haas officiating.

Burial will follow in Prairie Dell Cemetery in Iroquois.
