Herbert Luther Ollenburg, the son of H. Herman and Wilhelmina (Schultz) Ollenburg was born June 26, 1911 on a farm northeast of Garner. He was baptized and confirmed at St. John's Lutheran Church northeast of Garner. After graduating from Garner High School in 1927, he was immediately employed by the Farmer's National Bank, until 1934 when he was employed by the Hancock County National Bank, until his death, Thursday, November 26, 1987. July 2, 1933, he married Ruth M. Boehnke at St. John's Lutheran Church. In 1944, he graduated from Rutger's Stonier Graduate School of Banking. Herb was president of Hancokck County National Bank from 1944-77 and was chairman of the board the past ten years.
He is survived by his wife, Ruth Ollenburg; his children, Spencer L.Ollenburg and his wife, Dorothea, of Garner and Mrs. Sylvia Swale and her husband Dr. Ralph Swale of Mason City; six grandchildren, Thomas R. Swale, Steven C. Swale, Rebecca R. Swale, Herbert Andrew Ollenburg, Amy R. Ollenburg and Susanne L.Ollenburg.
He was preceded in death by his parents and three brothers, Athur Ollenburg, Almer Ollenburg and Emil Ollenburg.
