Harry A. Bennett, 57, for many years associated with the automobile repair business in Ottumwa died at 10:50 p.m. Monday at Ottumwa hospital following an illness of heart trouble. His home was at 203 1/2 West Main Street.
Born April 14, 1890 , at Hedrick he was the son of Mr. and Mrs. Richard Bennett. He came to Ottumwa in 1923 and was mechanical superintendent for the Theilen Auto Co. In 1930 he went into business for hisself, operating garages on Church street and at Washington and Main streets. Since 1937 he has worked for the Vaughn Chevrolet Co. and more recently for the Akerman Auto Co.
He married Lulu Neff, November 6, 1943, at Lancaster, Mo.
Besides his wife he is survived by two sons, Garold and Gordon Bennett, both of Ottumwa; his parents, living at Hedrick; three sisters, Mrs. Beulah White, Spokane, Washington, Mrs. Ruth Mathews, Winfield, and Miss Mildred Bennett, St. Paul, Minn.; and a brother, Frank Bennett, Ottumwa. He was preceded in death by two sisters, Kitty and Agnes, and by a brother Ralph.
Funeral services will be held Thursday at 1:30 p.m. at the Carrol Reece funeral home in Ottumwa. Burial will be made in the Brooks cemetery.
