Eleanor Rosa Nesloney, 96, of San Antonio, Texas, died January 4, 2011, surrounded by her family. She was born January 10, 1914, in Winters, Texas. She graduated from Winters High School in 1932, and subsequently graduated from the Abilene Beautician College. With the outbreak of World War II, she moved to San Antonio, Texas to work at Kelly AFB, as an aircraft inspector. One of the "Kelly Katies", her primary job was to inspect and run up the engines on B-17's bound for Europe. This ignited her interest in flying, and led to her student pilot license in 1944. She married John S. Nesloney, Sr., on September 29, 1945. They settled in San Antonio, Texas. Eleanor became a charter member of the Good Shepherd Lutheran Church. She served in the Women of the Church, as well as the Altar Guild. She was an active member of the Lutheran Hospital's Auxiliary, and was a lifetime member of the National Association of Retired Federal Employees. She was an avid gardener, and seamstress and a bowler. Eleanor is survived by her children, John & Mary Nesloney, Jr., Ralph & Martie Wayne; Bob & Debbie Billa; Sister, Edwina Adami, of San Antonio, Texas; 5 grandchildren, and 2 great-grandchildren. Eleanor was preceded in death by her husband, Johnnie in 1999. The family wishes to thank the staff of Chandler Nursing Center for their compassionate care. In Lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Good Shepherd Lutheran Church, 1630 Goliad Rd., San Antonio, Texas 78223. The Family will receive visitors on Saturday, January 8, 2011 at 1:00pm, followed by the Funeral Service to begin at 2:00pm at Mission Park Funeral Chapels South. Interment will follow at Mission Burial Park South.
