CHIDESTER RITES ARE THURSDAY

Dewey F. Chidester, 76, of Rt. 3, Albia, died Monday, Jan. 5, at Monroe County Hospital.

The funeral will be held this Thursday afternoon at 1:30 at the First Christian Church in Albia, with Rev. Laverne Leigh officiating. Burial will be in Oak View Cemetery.

Chidester was born on Dec. 23, 1899, in Monroe County, the son of James M. and Mary Sinclair Chidester. He married Blanche Fallon on Aug. 19, 1922. She preceded him in death last April 7.

Chidester had worked as a maintenance employee for Monroe County.

He is survived by three sons, Edward Chidester of Rt. 3, Albia, Robert Chidester of Albia, and Donald Chidester of Knoxville; two daughters, Mrs. Walter (Mary) Guffey of Rt. 1, Albia, and Mrs. Raymond (Patricia) Reed of Albia; 17 grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.

Beside his wife, he was preceded in death by his parents and one brother, Lawrence Chidester.

Geyer-Lewis Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
