Russell Haley, 85, of Idabel, passed away Saturday, January 15, 2011 at Broken Bow.

The son of Barney Lee and Josie (Davis) Haley, Russell was born on January 18, 1924 in Byars, Oklahoma. He had lived in this community most of his life and was affiliated with the Church of God in Idabel. In 1964, Mr. Haley opened Russell's Appliance Mart on Central St. in Idabel and operated there until moving his business to Broken Bow 20 years later. He and Shirley George were united in marriage on December 25, 1973 in Clarksville, Texas and made their home in Idabel. He enjoyed fishing and hunting.


He is preceded in death by his parents, Barney and Josie Haley; two sisters, Lorene and Hazel; three brothers, Wilber, Edger and Odie.

Russell leaves to cherish his memory his wife, Shirley, of the home; one son and daughter-in-law, Odie and Judy Haley of South Carolina; two daughters, Alex Haley of Ardmore, OK and Rhonda Bates of Sanger, TX; two brothers and one sister-in-law, Glen Haley and L.B and Stacey Haley of Purcell, OK; one sister and brother-in-law, Louretta and Jimmy Beaver of Splendora, TX; six grandchildren, Russell, Erica, Sarah, Holly, Lauren and Caitlyn; five great-grandchildren; and several special nieces, nephews and a host of friends.


Visitation:

The family will receive friends from 6-8 p.m. Monday at the Norwood-Nation Funeral Home Chapel in Idabel, OK.



Service:

Funeral Services will be held at 2:00 p.m. Tuesday. January 18, 2011, at the First Assembly of God Church in Broken Bow with Rev. Robert Castle officiating.
