LENOIR - Pansy Rich Storie Babb, 88, of Hickory, died Wednesday, Dec. 2, 2009, at Lenoir HealthCare Center.
She was born Feb. 20, 1921, in Caldwell County to the late John Robert and Cordelia Taylor Rich. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her first husband, Joshua L. Storie; her second husband, John Lloyd Babb; three brothers; and five sisters.
Mrs. Babb was a former cafeteria worker at Lenoir-Rhyne College. Survivors include two sons, John Alton Storie Sr. and wife, Gilda, of Morganton and Atwell Joshua Story and wife, Carolyn, of Newton; two daughters, Ms. Phyllis Storie Dishman of Lenoir and Cynthia Babb Wright and husband, Teddy, of Hickory; two stepsons, Robert Babb of Greensboro and Jerry Babb of Atlanta, Ga.; eight grandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren; and one great-great-granddaughter. A graveside service will be held Sunday, Dec. 6, 2009, at 2 p.m. in Rich Cemetery/Staircase Mountain, conducted by Wiley Saunders.
The family will receive friends this evening, from 7 to 8:30 p.m., at Greer-McElveen Funeral Home, and at other times at the home of John Alton Storie. Serving as pallbearers will be Mrs. Babb's grandsons.
