Prairie – Mrs. Ruby Dell Barnes Baker, age 86, died Wednesday, Dec. 20, 1995 at her home in the Una Community of cardiac arrest. Funeral services were held Friday, Dec. 22 at Pleasant Grove United Methodist Church. Burial was in Pleasant Grove united Methodist Cemetery with the Rev. Raymond Rooney and the Rev. Carl Grubbs officiating.
The daughter of the late J M and Mary Jane Fowler Barnes, she was a native of Fayette County, AL, and had lived in Clay County for 60 years. She was the widow of the late E A Baker, whom she married in November 1941 and was a homemaker. She was active in her church and enjoyed fishing and quilting.
Survivors include one daughter, Kitty Baker Grubbs of Prairie; one son, Clark Baker of Prairie; five grandchildren, ; three great grandchildren and three sisters, Vera Poss, Raine Poss and Eula Bridger, all of Prairie.
Pallbearers were Joe Jackson, Charles Davis, Hansell Callahan, Ernie Poss, Ellis Poss and Barry Bridger. Honorary pallbearers were Dr. R T Lott, Dr. T N Braddock and all the men of Pleasant Grove United Methodist Church of Una.
