Graveside services will be held Tuesday at 10 a.m. at the West Side District Cemetery , for Amos Abney 72. The minister of the Ford City Church of Christ, will officiate.

Mr. Abney was born in Prairie Town, Oklahoma, on December 8, 1911 and died Saturday, November 3, 1984, in a Bakersfield hospital. .

He was a resident of Taft for many years before moving to Bakersfield 33 years ago. He was an operating engineer and worked out of Local No. 12 Union hall in Bakersfield. He was a member of the Church of Christ and the Operating Engineers Local No 12 of Bakersfield.

Mr. Abney is preceded in death by his father Daniel Abney and his brothers Amos Abney and Leroy Abney. He is survived by his wife, a stepson, two step-daughters, his mother, a brother, four sisters, 16 grandchildren, and many great-grandchildren.

Friends are invited to pay their respects at the Erickson and Brown Funeral Home until 8:30 p.m. tonight.
