Mrs. Emil Dirks, 65, of the Town of Meeme, died Friday morning at St. Nicholas Hospital following a short illness. She was born Amanda Voss on June 24, 1895, in the Town of Meeme, a daughter of the late Louis and Albertina Schwalenberg Voss. She was baptized and confirmed at the Bethel United Church of Christ, and attended the district school.
On Nov. 1, 1913, she married Emil Dirks of Louis Corners. The couple moved to Meeme, where he operated a cheese factory until his retirement in 1956. Mrs. Dirks was a life member of Bethel Church, the Ladies Aid Society of the church and the Pigeon River Homemakers.
Survivors include her husband; three sons, Elmer of the Town of Mosel, Erwin of the Town of Rhine, and Lester of Ada; five grandsons; one great granddaughter; three sisters. Mrs. Alvin Zimmermann of the Town of Rhine, Mrs. Edward Mahloch of the Town of Schleswig, and Mrs. Reinhold Roethel of the Town of Meeme; three brothers, Alvin of the Town of Meeme, Harvey of Manitowoc, and Melvin of Plymouth. She also was preceded in death by three brothers.
Funeral services will be held at the Bethel United Church of Christ in the Town of Herman with the Rev. Carl Fried officiating. Burial will be in the church cemetery.
