Rev. Pettis Sears, or Uncle Pettis as he was familiarly called, and on of the best known ministers of Missouri, died Monday evening about seven o'clock August 27, 1928 at the home of his daughter, Mrs. Clarence Vince at Prairie Hill, at the age of 92 years 1 month and 7 days.

The deceased is survived by five children, 29 grandchildren, 17 great grandchildren and one great great grandchild.

Rev. Sears was a native of Randolph County, was born July 20, 1836. He had been a minister of the gospel for many years and had conducted meetings practically all over the state. He was a well to do farmer and owned a fine farm in Chariton County.

Uncle Pettis well be greatly missed by many.

Memorial and funeral services were held Wednesday afternon at Prairie Hill Baptist Church at 2 o'clock and was conducted by a number of preachers present all of whom knew him.

Burial was made in the old Oak Grove Cemetery.
