Phyllis Norine Benischek was born April 18, 1930 in rural Oxford Junction, Iowa, to Henry and Thelma (Dean) Benischek. She graduated from the University of Iowa with a BA in education and a Masters degree in Elementary Science Education. She married Arnold Bisinger on January 14, 1950 at Sacred Heart Catholic Church, Oxford Junction, Iowa. He died in October of 1993. She taught in rural Jones County, Monmouth, Sacred Heart School in Maquoketa, and at Sacred Heart School in Monticello in 1991. She was also the librarian at Wyoming Library, until she retired. She was a member of Sacred Heart Catholic Church, Oxford Junction, the Monmouth Women's Club, Jackson County Retried Teachers. She enjoyed traveling and reading, and was an avid Chicago Cubs and Iowa Hawkeyes fan.

Phyllis is survived by her children, Mary (Bob) Ross of Iowa City, Margaret (John) Hogan of Earlville, Joe (Jackie) Bisinger and Jim (Deb) Bisinger, both of Monmouth; 13 grandchildren; 2 sisters, Marlene (Fred Jr.) Feuss of Lost Nation and Jane (Kirk) Rentschler of Solon; and one brother, Gene Benischek of Monmouth. She was preceded in death by her husband, her parents, and two sisters, Leona Benischek and Claudette Brown.

Phyllis N. Bisinger, 80, of Monmouth, Iowa, died Friday, March 25, 2011, at St. Luke's Hospital, Cedar Rapids.

Memorials may be given to the Wyoming Public Library.
