Solomon W. Dakins was born in Canada and married first Katie Cahill on Feb. 2, 1870, in Ogle County, Ill. She died May 11, 1881.
Solomon married second Clara E. Gressly (daughter of J. Chas Gressly and Sophia Corffman), who had been a servant living in his household. To this union two children are known to have been born:
1) Manly Carl Dakins (3 Oct 1884-Dec 1973)
2) Howard Dakins (3 Mar 1888-1956, died in South Dakota)
