"Samuel Allen Streby was born on the 20th of February, 1858, in Ohio, the son of Edward 1814-1889 and Elizabeth Barbara [Albright] Streby 1820-1910, and he died on the 28th of May, 1941, in Fredericktown, Knox County, Ohio. Samuel married Florence Rebecca Wagner 1859-1939 on the 18th of April, 1880, in Fredericktown, Knox County, Ohio. Florence Rebecca Wagner was born on the 5th of February, 1859, in Ohio, the daughter of George W. 1811-1891 and Catherine E. [Henry] Wagner 1822-1897. Samuel and Florence Streby had six children; Edith Mae Streby 1881-1960, married Charles Elmer Dean 1878-1968; Nellie Belle Streby 1883-1963, married Simon M. Herzog 1874-1970; Grace D. Streby 1886-1960, married Jacob A. Franks 1886-1952; Gertrude A. Streby 1890-1951, married 1st, William A. Burger 1873-1955, married 2nd, Lloyd Daniel Levering 1868-1919, married 3rd, George R. Craft 1880-1952; George Edward Streby 1896-1977, married Burdell C. Long 1896-1987; and Jennings Bryan Streby 1900-1985, married 1st, Ursel Marie Kirby 1904-1939, married 2nd, Lucile Cochran 1906-2005. Samuel's father, Edward Streby, was born on the 10th of October, 1814, in York, York County, Pennsylvania, the son of Peter 1781-1861 and Elizabeth Streby 1796-1867, and he died on the 15th of May, 1889, in Richland County, Ohio. The mother, Elizabeth Barbara "Betsy" Albright was born on the 9th of February, 1820, in Stark County, Ohio, and died on the 10th of May, 1910, in Richland County, Ohio. Edward and Betsy Streby had at least nine children; George W. Streby 1843-1905, Hiram Streby 1845, Henry Streby 1847, Jacob A. Paddys Corners — DIED — At his home five miles west of Bellville on Wednesday, May 15, 1889, in his 74th. year, Mr. Edward Streby. The remains accompanied by quite a number of friends and neighbors were interred in the Salem Lutheran Cemetery. The funeral services were conducted by Rev. Dornblazer, of Johnsville. Six children survive to mourn the loss of their departed father.
