Dr. John Theodore "Ted" Abraham, 70, of 704 Yakima Street, a Wenatchee physician for the past 41 years, died in a local hospital on Thursday following an extended illness.
Born in Portland, Ore., on June 23, 1901, he attended schools at Roseburg. A graduate of Oregon State College in pharmacy, he graduated from Oregon Medical School at Portland in 1928. He interned in Columbia Presbyterian Hospital in Medicine and served his residency at Babies Hospital, Columbia Presbyterian, in New York from 1920 to 1930.
In July 1930 Dr. Abraham opened his office in Wenatchee and on October 31, 1930 he married Evelyn Wilson, Sault Ste. Marie, Ontario. Wenatchee had since been their home.
In 1939 Dr. Abraham took a post graduate course at Los Angeles General Hospital in obstetrics and gynecology, and returned to Wenatchee to practice pediatrics and obstetrics. During World War II he served three years in the U.S. Air Force as a flight surgeon. He returned to Wenatchee in 1945 to resume his practice there.
Dr. Abraham was a member of the First Presbyterian Church; a past president and former member of the Wenatchee Kiwanis Club; and a member of the Wenatchee Golf and Country Club. Surviving are his wife, at home; one son, Dr. John T. Abraham Jr., Santa Ana, Calif., two daughters, Mrs. Larry (Mary Ann) Silvest, Kennewick, and Mrs. Lewis (Judy) Drew, Walla Walla; one brother, Adelbert Abraham, Roseburg, Ore.; two sisters, Mrs. Dorothea McDermott, Great Falls, Mont., and Miss Elizabeth Abraham, Fortuna, Calif.; and 11 grandchildren.
