Services will be 11 a.m. Monday at Meriden Evangelical Free Church, with the Rev. Larry Ostercamp officiating. Burial will be in Pleasant Hill Cemetery, Aurelia. Visitation will be 2 to 8 p.m. today, with the family present 6 to 8 p.m., at Redig Funeral Home in Aurelia.
Emma Olivine Silvernale was born Jan. 27, 1907, the oldest of nine children born to Perne and Dora (Brace) Silvernale at Currie, Minn. She graduated from Mankato State Teachers College in 1926 and taught country school for two years.
On Feb. 15, 1928, Emma married Irwin Stutz. They farmed in the Currie area until 1960. They moved to Aurelia where Emma worked at Elsie's Cafe for several years. She was active in her churches, First Presbyterian in Currie and First United Methodist Church in Aurelia. Emma belonged to Pythian Sisters and the Senior Citizens Group of Aurelia. She enjoyed playing bridge with her friends and also received much pleasure from flowers and her family.
Survivors include her children, Greta and her husband, Don Sponsel of Bloomington, Minn., Dr. Conley and his wife, Donna Stutz of Peoria, Ill., Stanley and his wife, Marlys Stutz of Mankato, Minn, Sandra and her husband, Louis Wojack of Minneapolis, Minn., and Sharri and her husband, Ronald Baldner of Cherokee; 22 grandchildren; 36 great-grandchildren; four great-great-grandchildren; two sisters, Angel Filkins of Maplewood, Minn., and Zorada Hoge of Maple Grove, Minn.; a brother, Robert and his wife, Maxine Silvernale of Slayton, Minn.; and many nieces and nephews.
Preceding Emma in death were her parents; her husband, Irwin on April 24, 1984; a sister; four brothers; and a great-grandson.
