Bob (Butch) was born in Shetek Township, the son of Perne & Dora Brace Silvernale. He grew up on the family farm and attended Sunrise Country School until age 8. Then the family moved to Currie and Bob attended Currie Public School later graduating from Tracy High School in 1941. Bob worked with his father as a carpenter. Bob was a professional drummer since the age of 15. On January 29, 1945 he and Maxine Noll were married at the Currie Presbyterian Church. Following their marriage they made their home in Currie with the exception of one year in Washington and one year in Utah. Bob worked as a carpenter in the area while still playing the drums professionally. In 1999 they moved to Slayton. On June 10, 2010 Bob moved to Our House Hospice Home in Slayton. He was a life long member of the Currie Presbyterian Church where he served as elder and treasurer. He served as past Chief of the Currie Volunteer Fire Department, past President of the Currie Town and Country Booster Club. He also was a member of the Tracy Men's Barbershop Chorus and a member of both Slayton and Tracy Community Bands. Bob was a member and past President of the Murray County Historical Society. He also served on the advisory board of the Westbrook Good Samaritan Center. Bob enjoyed fishing, woodworking, bowling, playing cards, Scrabble, and old westerns. He especially enjoyed spending time with his family.

Bob & Maxine were the parents of Wendy Steffen, Deb Bassett, and Robin Leonard.

Bob's siblings include Zorada Hoge, Perne, Walt, Floyd, John, Emma Stutz, Angele Filkins, and Dora Stutz.

Memorial services were held from Currie Presbyterian Church in Currie, MN on June 14, David Erickson officiating.
