William Henry LeRoy "Roy" Bodmer, was the eldest child of Carrie Melissa (née Wiles) and Jacob Bodmer, junior. He was born in Middleburg, Loudoun County, Virginia, grew up in Montgomery County, Maryland, and as a young man was a Poolesville, Maryland, businessman.

Roy Bodmer was appointed a Montgomery County deputy sheriff in 1925, and afterwards became a Montgomery County policeman and advanced through the ranks. As a sergeant, he commanded the Silver Spring Station, and was later appointed captain and commanding officer of the Rockville Station.

Roy Bodmer and Mollie M. Cubitt, both of Poolesville, Maryland, were married on 26 September 1910 in Washington, D.C. They were the parents of:

Capt. Bodmer was a son of the late Jacob and Carrie Bodmer and is survived by his wife, Mrs. Mollie C. Bodmer and these children: Mrs. A. W. Stoner, Washington; William Bodmer, Union Bridge; George and Howard Bodmer, Beallsville; Charles Bodmer, Bethesda; Roy C. Bodmer, Rockville; and Mrs. C. W. Johnson, Belleville, Ill.

Funeral services for Captain Roy Bodmer, of Montgomery County Police who died suddenly Wednesday night, will be held from the late home at Beallsville on Saturday afternoon at two o'clock, daylight time. Interment will be in Monocacy Cemetery, Beallsville. William B. Hilton, funeral director.

Funeral services for Capt. Roy Bodmer, 60, commanding officer of the Rockville Police substation who died Wednesday, will be held at his Beallsville, Md., home Saturday at 2 p. m. Burial will be in the Monocacy Cemetery in Beallsville.

Captain Bodmer served on the Montgomery County police force for 28 years. He had been ill for several years but remained on duty until last Monday.

Survived the 1906 Terra Cotta wreck of a B & O train in the District of Columbia, for which he was hospitalized.
