With her hands clasped around her mouth as though whispering a well-kept secret Minnie Myerly, 99, boasted, "I'm nearly 100 and I feel wonderful." Ms. Myerly is currently one of the six oldest residents at the Homewood Retirement Center on East Patrick Street ranging in age from 99-102. Although these residents are nearly a century old, each enjoys life to the fullest.
In a short interview, Ms. Myerly, who was born in Poolesville in 1895, flailed her arms around and said she did just about everything in exercise class Tuesday morning. She also pointed to her manicured fingernails and said, "They put red on them... aren't they pretty?"
A graduate of Vanderbilt Seminary in 1929, Ms. Myerly said she's had a "good life" full of enjoyment. According to a self profile written in 1982, Ms. Myerly belonged to the Homemaker's Club, Women's Club and various community groups in her earlier years. Ms. Myerly explained that now she enjoys watching television and taking walks in the halls of Homewood.

Mrs. Minnie Louise Bodmer Myerly, 100, formerly of 512 Fairview Ave., Frederick, died Friday, May 24, at the Homewood Retirement Center, Frederick. She was the wife of the Rev. Harry Stockton Myerly, who died in 1988.
Born June 20, 1895, in Poolesville, she was a daughter of the late Jacob and Carrie M. Wiles Bodmer, and was the last surviving member of her immediate family. A graduate of Poolesville High School and Moody Bible Institute, Chicago, Ill., she served with her late husband in the ministry of both the Baltimore and West Virginia Conferences of the Methodist Church from 1925-1963. After retiring to Frederick, they became members of Calvary United Methodist Church where her husband served as the assistant minister until 1971. Mrs. Myerly served the church throughout the years in many capacities on the local, district, and conference levels. Her special interest was foreign missions. She enjoyed her membership in the Women's Christian Temperance Union, the Homemaker's Club, and other community organizations.
Friends may call at the Keeney and Basford Funeral Home, 106 E. Church St. Frederic};, from 10 to 11 a.m. Wednesday, May 29. Funeral services will follow at 11 a m. in the funeral home chapel, with her pastor, the Rev. Robert E. Manthey, officiating. Interment will be in Monocacy Cemetery, Beallsville.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Calvary United Methodist Church, 133 W, Second St., Frederick, Md. 21701.
