ELIJAH RUSH was a pioneer born 1781 in VA; married ELIZABETH ROBERTSON 1804 in Mason County, KY; children born near Washington, KY were Mary 1806, Amanda 1808, Mahala 1809.

Elijah moved his family to Orange County, IN and served as a clerk in a sherif's election (History of Orange Co, IN 1884 Goodspeed Bros Pub in Chicago); children born near French Lick Springs, IN were Alfred Creed 1814, James 1816, Elizabeth 1820.

In 1824, Elijah gave "permission of father" for AMANDA to marry Hansel Horn in Montgomery County, IL.

The RUSH family moved to Pike County, IL in 1827 and settled into farming in Detroit Township where Caroline was born 1833.

Elijah RUSH married Mrs. Elizabeth Murphy in 1849, 3 years before his death in 1852. The family patriarch and pioneer is buried in Blue River Cemetery south of Detroit, IL, as well as many Rush family from his future generations.

Daughter MAHALA m. William D. Adney 1829 in Pike, IL (not returned to court house)and are found on 1850 Census in Bond Co., IL. Their children were: John 21, Elizabeth S. 19, Alfred 17, James 16, Maria 13, Elijah 11, Sophriana 9, Thomas 5, Caroline 3, Emanalla 1.

Daughter Elizabeth Rush married Stephen Casteel 1849 in Pike Co, IL and both are buried in Blue River Cemetery.

Mary Burke Rush had two children: Mary Ann 1836-1912 m. James Rosevear & m. ?? Creswell; George Washington Alexander 1838. She married Jessie Porter Reid 1840 in Nauvoo (Hancock) IL (16,000 Mormons founded this city on the Mississippi River after their leaders were captured, tried and sentenced to death in MO) and their children were: Elijah Clinton Reid 1844-1887 m. Sarah Marinda Bates; Hyrum Nephi Reid 1845 (Lee) IA; Laura Emily Reid 1850-1877 (Scotts) IA m. Peter Barbour Johnston 1868.
