Funeral Service for Anna M. Bartell, 92, of Herman, Minnesota will be held Monday, March 28, 2011 at 2:00 P.M. at the United Methodist Church in Herman with Rev. Mack Carlson and Pastor Mickey Olson officiating. Organist will be Lois Bartell with special music provided by Todd Bartell. Pallbearers will be Anna's Grandsons: Brian Bartell, Todd Bartell, Shane Olson, Tyson Bartell, Tom Kellen, Charles Enriquez and Glenn DeVold. Honorary Pallbearers will be Anna's Granddaughters: Lisa Kellen, Tricia Bartell, Andria Foster, Tiffany Enriquez and Stacey Olson, and all of Anna's Great-Grandchildren. Interment will be in Eden Reformed Cemetery, rural Herman, at a later date. Visitation will be Sunday, March 27th from 4:00 P.M. until 7:00 P.M. at the United Methodist Church in Herman.

Anna Mae Bartell was born May 24, 1918 in Butler County, Iowa, the oldest of eleven children born to Jacob and Emma (Hinders) DeGroote. She was united in marriage to Herman Walter Bartell on September 26, 1935 in Norcross, Minnesota. To this union five children were born; Robert Herman, Neva Jane, Gerald Roylan, Janice Ann and Patricia Jane. Neva Jane passed away shortly after her birth. The couple farmed southwest of Herman, Minnesota where Anna resided until shortly after Herman's death on March 30, 1976. The couple worked hard together farming and raising their children. They were members of the Eden Reformed Church in Herman, where Anna taught Sunday School. Anna married Richard Bartell on November 26, 1977 in Wheaton, Minnesota. The couple resided in Herman. Richard passed away on March 26, 1992. Anna was an avid flower gardener and enjoyed spending time feeding and watching birds. She also enjoyed crocheting and embroidery. God and family were extremely important to her. Anna passed away peacefully on March 24, 2011 with family at her side, at the Stevens County Medical Center in Morris, Minnesota.

Anna is survived by four children: Robert (Janice) Bartell of Madison, Minnesota, Jerry (Barb) Bartell of Herman, Minnesota, Janice (Jack) O'Connor of Fargo, North Dakota and Patti (David) Olson of Farwell, Minnesota, nine grandchildren, sixteen great-grandchildren, one brother, Jake (Donna) DeGroote of Bristow, Iowa, three sisters: Dorothy Jans of Clarksville, Iowa, Darlene (Frank) Vance of Clarksville, Iowa and Alice(Jim)Jacobs of Allison, Iowa.

Anna was preceded in death by her Parents, Jacob and Emma DeGroote, Husbands, Herman Bartell and Richard Bartell, Daughter, Neva Jane Bartell, Great-Granddaughter, Kiara Foster, and Siblings: Hilda, Annette, Ruth, Hank, Clarence and Wally.

Ranney Funeral Home in Wheaton, Minnesota was in charge of arrangements.
