Per "Herald of Truth;" 4 July 1879, page 158, Lagrange County, Indiana:

Elizabeth Stutzman was born on Wednesday, 25 May 1796 in Brothers Valley Twp. in Somerset County PA. Her parents were John Stutzman and Anna Speicher.

Elizabeth was married about 1814 to Yost Yoder, Jr. in Somerset County. Elizabeth was the mother of four children, all born in Stony Creek Twp., Somerset Co. PA. The children were: Nancy born on Friday, 20 October 1815, Daniel Y., born on Friday, 3 Apr 1829, Jacob born on Sunday, 11 Dec 1831, and Samuel born on Saturday, 11 Oct 1834.

Records of the Orphan Court, Somerset County PA show the petition of Elizabeth Yoder, widow and relict of Yost Yoder was presented, setting forth that her husband died leaving Nancy, Daniel, Jacob and Samuel, the last three of whom were minors under 14 years of age. The court appointed John Bontrager, guardian, September 14, 1837.

Elizabeth probably moved to Lagrange County IN about 1864-1866, at the same time her son, Jacob, moved to Indiana. In 1860 she was living next to Jacob in Stony Creek Twp. In 1870 Elizabeth is living with her daughter, Nancy and son-in-law, Joseph D. Miller in Eden Twp, Lagrange County IN.

She belonged to the Amish Mennonite Church.

Sister Elizabeth Yoder nee Stutzman passed away on Thursday, July 4, 1879 in Lagrange County IN, aged 83 years, 1 month and 8 days.

Elizabeth Yoder was buried in the Miller Cemetery in Lagrange County. Sermon by J.J. Weaver and Christian Miller, text: John 3: 19-22. The Miller Cemetery is near Paul Mishler's Slaughter House on the north side of the road and a little east of US20.
