Preston "Pete" B. McMahan, 81, of Columbia died Friday, Feb. 11, 2000, at The Williamsburg.

There will be no services. Arrangements are under the direction of Parker Funeral Service.

Mr. McMahan was born Nov. 18, 1918, in Blufton to Homer and Dorothy Whitlock McMahan.

He married Sarah Elizabeth Ronimous on March 4, 1952, and she survives.

He had lived in Columbia for 40 years, moving here from Blufton. He was the Missouri State Old-Time Fiddling Champion several times and was the first living inductee into the Missouri State Fiddling Hall of Fame. He also was a veteran of World War II. He had been employed in tire sales and service.

Survivors also include four daughters, Sue Ann Benedict, Elizabeth Kay Davis, Nina Harrison and Ruth Roe, all of Columbia; two sons, Dennis McMahan of Harrisburg and Gary Lee McMahan of Columbia; three sisters, Dorothy Ann Porter and May Rigdon of St. Charles and Jennie Schulter of Fayette; 10 grandchildren; and nine great-grandchildren.
