Rock Island resident and Van Buren County native Aaron Payne, 93, died March 30 at Raintree Manor after a two-month illness. A farmer and a member of Harmony Church of Christ, he was the son of William Clayburn and Louzena Hillis Payne; and was preceded in death by one brother, Walter Payne. He is survived by his wife, Annie Pearl Mayfield Payne; two sons, Gerald C. and Ben A. Payne, both of Rock Island; one daughter, Joetta Payne of Rock Island; three grandchildren, two step-grand- children, and five great-grandchildren. Services will be held at 11 a.m. today at High's Chapel with Marion Ward officiating. Burial will follow at Crain Hill Cemetery in Van Buren County. High Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
