Vol. 18 No. 16, Thursday August 3, 1871, Page 4 Column 6
Sudden Death. -- The body of Capt. Herman Thompson was brought here from Kenosha,
by the boat, yesterday morning. The Capt. left here in his vessel -- the schr. Franklin -- in good health, was taken sick before he reached Kenosha, and died on shore after two days of severe suffering. The Capt. was one of our best
Norwegian fellow citizens, and leaves a sorrow stricken widow and a large family of children, who have the most heartfelt sympathy of our community.
The flags of the shipping in our harbor were half mast yesterday in due respect to the deceased, who was buried in the afternoon of the same day.
