Margaretha was born at Obereichenroth, parish Leuzendorf, Oberamt Gerabronn, Wuerttemberg, Germany on 11 January 1856 at 9P.M. She was christened "Margaretha Barbara" at the church at Leuzendorf on 15 January 1856.

Maggie emigrated with her parents at age 1 aboard the "Edgar P. Stinger" to New York in July 1857.

She married John J. Zick at Woodville, Calumet Co., WI. in a religious ceremony performed by Rev. Runkel.

Her obituary in the "Brillion News" of 25 December, 1908 states:
"Mrs. J. Zick died last week at the age of 52 years, having survived her husband by many years. Decedent was a woman of thrift and refinement and her worth as mother and housewife is attested by the splendid family that survives to cherish her memory."
