Rev David Harris met with a fatal accident last Tuesday being instantly killed by a fall of coal. An inquest was held, D T Evans, Esq Justice of the Peace acting as Coroner. After a careful investigation the jury found the following verdict.

That Rev. David Harris came to his death by a fall of coal at drift No. 3 through unforeseen danger and neglect of the necessary precautions not knowing the nature of the seam of coal at this part of workings.

Mr. Harris had only begun to work in that part of the scam that morning. Great respect was shown to his memory thirty five teams following his remains to their last resting place at Cherry Flats.

Mrs. Harris had been ordained as minister of the Gospel for the Welsh Church at this place. The Church was unable to support him and he therefore found it necessary to toil daily for his living. He was a man of excellent qualities and gentle manners and had an abundance of friends among those who knew him.
