Rose Marie Billups, 63, Milan, died Monday, July 12, 1999 at Trinity Medical Center, West Campus, Rock Island.

A Funeral Mass will be held on Friday, July 16, 1999, at 10 a.m. at St. Maria Goretti Catholic Church, Coal Valley. Burial will be in the Preemption Cemetery.

Visitation will be held on Thursday from 4 to 8 p.m. at Trimble Funeral Home, Coal Valley, with a prayer service at 8 p.m. Memorials may be made to the American Cancer Society or St. Maria Goretti Catholic Church.

Rose Marie Brennan was born on Jan. 12, 1936, in Raritan, Ill., the daughter of Ervin and Rosetta (Fryer) Brennan. She married Harry Billups on May 20, 1958, at St. Patrick's Catholic Church, Raritan, Ill.

Rose had previously been the Sherrard Grade School secretary for seven years before working for various insurance companies until the past 10 years when she worked for her husband's office at Country Companies, Moline.

Rose was a member of the St. Maria Goretti Catholic Church, Coal Valley. She was a devoted wife and mother. She also spent many hours spoiling her grandchildren.

Rose collected antiques and butterfly art. She also enjoyed gardening with wildflowers and enthusiastically decorating for every holiday. Rose's gift for cake-decorating had started out 25 years ago as a hobby but soon turned into an art form.

Rose is survived by her husband Harry; daughters and sons-in-law, Raelene and Thomas DePorter, Milan, and Renee and Michael Kelly, Rock Island; a son, Remy Billups, Lisle, Ill.; a sister, Mary Margaret Day, Blandinsville, Ill.; and five grandchildren, Tad, Joanne and Matthew DePorter, all of Milan, and Alex and Noah Kelly, both of Rock Island. Rose was preceded in death by her parents.
