M. L. MINOR, SR., DIES; A PIONEER ATLANTAN
Was Father of Councilman Minor, of the Ninth Ward. Funeral This Afternoon.

M. L. Minor, Sr., one of the long-time residents of East Atlanta, and widely known throughout this section of the state, especially in Gwinnett, DeKalb and Fulton counties, died yesterday afternoon at 3:30 o'clock at the family residence on Glennwood avenue, East Atlanta, after a long and painful illness.

Mr. Minor was born in Gwinnett county seventy-six years ago, and for more than fifty years has been a resident of DeKalb, whither he moved with his parents when he was yet a lad, in early life. Mr. Minor married Miss Sarah Robinson, of Union Springs, near Lithonia, a daughter of one of the first Baptist minister of that section of the state, who survives him. He was recognized as one of the leading citizens of DeKalb county, and was at one time notary public in that county. In early life Mr. Minor joined the Methodist church and for more than fifty years was a consistent member of that religious branch. He is survived by, besides his wife, six sons and one daughter, Thomas A. Minor, George C. Minor, E. A. Minor, member of the general council from the ninth ward; L. R. Minor, Jr., all of Atlanta; D. A. Minor, of Louisiana. Mrs. V. Everett is the daughter.

Funeral services will take place this afternoon from the East Atlanta Methodist church, where he held his membership, at 1 o'clock, and the interment will be in West View. Rev. Olin King will officiate. His six sons will act as pallbearers.

Marcus L. Minor married his wife Sarah on December 21, 1854, in DeKalb Co., and they had 10 children total, 8 of whom were still alive in 1900. They included Mary Z., Thomas A., George C. (married Rebecca J. Wellborn in 1887), Eben A., Luke R., Marcus L. (married Louisa J. Wellborn in 1888), Sarah V. (married an Everett), David A., and Early B. Minor.
