Confederate veteran. Enlisted in the 1st South Carolina Rifles in 1861. Became CSA paymaster in Department of North Carolina, South Carolina, and Georgia. Went to Texas at end of war and married Ella Hammond in 1873. Moved to Chattanooga in 1884.
