Funeral rites for Mrs. Sophia Rohrer were conducted Saturday afternoon at her home in Somonauk. The Reverend Mr. Floyd Q. Davidson, pastor of the Union Congregational Church, officiated. She died Thursday (February 27, 1933) at her home. The pallbearers were Edward Suppes, Earl Breunig, Vernon Breuer, Berton Rohrer, Delbert LaBolle and Russell Rohrer.
Mrs. Rohrer was born in Waldersbach, Bon-de-la-Roche, Alsace-Lorraine, France on May 21, 1843. She came to America a year later with her parents, Mr. and Mrs. Jean Kastler, who settled on a farm southwest of Somonauk. On November 12, 1860 she was united in marriage to Celestin Rohrer, who died in March 1916. Two children, Mrs. John Breunig and Edward Rohrer preceded her in death.
She is survived by nine children: Mrs. Wald Fisher of Brownsville, TX, Arthur Rohrer of State Center, IA, Charles Rohrer of Rhodes, Mrs. Rose Suppes, Mrs. Adeline Breunig, Mrs. Charles LaBolle, Mrs. Arthur Breuer, and Henry and Bert Rohrer. Thirty-five grandchildren, 65 great-grandchildren and one great great grandchild.
