Bessie Padgett

Mrs. Bessie Padgett, 71, of Eubank, died Saturday morning, November 24 at Lake Cumberland Medical Center, Somerset.

Born in Letcher County, November 9, 1908, she was a daughter of the late Robert and Henny (Holbrook) Yantz. She was the widow of Harvey Padgett, who died in 1965, and was a member of Olive Baptist Church near Waynesburg.

Survivors include seven sons, Billy of Dry Ridge, Calvin and Jim of Eubank, Richard of Cincinnati, Ohio, Willard of Florida, Ernest and Alvin Padgett of Waynesburg; five daughters, Mae Coleman of Kings Mountain, Ethel Jones of Somerset, Barbara Eldridge, of Dry Ridge, Martha Black and In Padgett, both of Eubank; a step-son, Orville Padgett of Waynesburg; tow step-daughters, Violet Leach of Danville and Stella Brown of Yosemite; a brother, Enoch Yantz of Waynesburg; two half-brothers, Lee Pence of Burlington and Felix Pence of Covington; four sisters, Margie Singleton of West Chester Ohio, Barbara Weaver of Crab Orchard, Sarah Padgett and Ethel Padgett, both of Waynesburg; five half-sisters, Lorraine Pence of Covington, Edna Gadberry and Mildred Roher, both of Cincinnati, Ohio, and Ora Pence and Nora Willhelm, both of Florence; 47 grandchildren, 19 great-grandchildren and one great-grandchild.

Funeral was held at 2 p.m. Monday at Olive Baptist Church by the Rev. Richard Wilson. Burial was in Olive Cemetery.

Barnett Funeral Home Chapel was in charge.
