Funeral rites were held yesterday afternoon at the First Baptist Church here for Mrs. Sarah Ann Jones, 76 year old widow of the late S. A. Jones who died at the home of her son-in-law and daughter, Mr. and Mrs. H. B. Wells, in Columbia, where she had resided for the past few years, following an illness extending over many months.
Mrs. Jones was a native of River Falls, Ala., and came to Columbia with her husband and family of children thirty four years ago and had since made her home here. She became a member of the Baptist Church in her girlhood days and since her membership with the local organization she had identified herself with the well-being and progress of her church and as long as her health permitted she was a regular attendant at all the meetings of the church and manifested unusual interest in the deliberations and activities of missionary organizations of the church.
The surviving members of the family are a son, S. A. Jones of Jackson, three daughters, Mrs. Dora Kennedy of Monroeville, Ala., Mrs. Lela Orr of Lake Village, Ark., and Mrs. H. B. Wells of Columbia, and a sister, Mrs. Dora Hart of Florala, Ala.

Funeral Services For Mrs. S. A. Jones

Mrs. Sarah Ann Jones, widow of the late Sanford A. Jones, died Friday at the home of her son-in-law and daughter, Mr. and Mrs. H. B. Wells of this city.
Mrs. Jones was a native of Alabama, having been born seventy-six years ago at River Falls. With her late husband she came to Columbia thirty-four years ago and had been since a resident of this city. She had been a member of the Baptist Church since early womanhood.

Surviving members of her immediate family are a son and three daughters.
The son is S. A. Jones of Jackson, and the daughters are Mrs. Dora Kennedy, of Monroeville, Ala, Mrs. Lela Orr, of Lake Village, Ark, and Mrs. H. B. Wells, of Columbia. A sister, Mrs. Dora Hart, of Florala, Ala, also survives.
Funeral services were held at the First Baptist Church here, the Rev. L. B. Golden, pastor, and the Rev. W. R. Cooper a former pastor, conducting the obsequies, followed by interment in Columbia cemetery.
