MR. B. C. JONES KILLED BY LOG TRUCK SATURDAY
Mr. B. C. Jones, forty-five, farmer of Hathorn, twelve miles north of Columbia, was instantly Killed at nine o'clock Saturday morning by being run over by a truck loaded with hardwood logs at Foxworth, three miles west of Columbia. Mr.Jones was riding on the truck, driven by Ray Sanders, when he fell from his seat and was caught under the rear wheel and the wheel of the trailer also passed over his body crushing the skull and body and breaking both legs and an arm. The truck was carrying logs from Hathorn to the Foxworth Veneer mill when the fatal accident happened. Mr.Jones is survived by the wife and two sons, Boardman, of the U.S.Navy and Cyrus, also one daughter,Miss Evelyn both
of Hathorn. Other survivors are the mother and three sisters, Mrs.H.C. Wells of Columbia, Mrs.Ralph Kennedy,of Monroeville, Ala. and Mrs.Lelia Jackson of Summer, Miss. and a brother, S. A. Jones, of Summer, Miss. Mr. Jones was a native of Alabama and came to Marion County thirty years ago and had since been engaged in the lumber business and farming.
Funeral arrangements were in charge of J. W. Smith, local mortician and funeral rites were held Sunday at the Society Hill Baptist Church, of which he was a member.
